Mattighofen, near Salzburg

Franzl's Schlossrestaurant

In April 2012, Franz Schickbauer opened Franzl's Schlossrestaurant in the Schloss Mattighofen castle.
In Austria's Innviertel region, Schloss Mattighofen served as a hunting lodge, brewery and the location of the tax office. In 2007, the town of Mattighofen bought the building and the inside rooms, facade and the castle garden were completely renovated. In May 2011, Schickbauer signed the lease agreement for the restaurant. The vaulting and bearing walls were there; everything else was done from new.

Architect Fritz Hauswirth from Salzburg was responsible for the interior design concept. Josefine Dandachi from the Dandachi furnishing establishment used fabrics by fine on benches and chairs: tough woollen materials from the "Cool & Cosy" collection that fit in well to the ambience, an elegant ornamental pattern, a timeless herringbone, rustic checks with matching solid colours.
